“Single Vineyard”

Moscatel

Toneles.

Legend has it gold was kept in barrels (‘Toneles’).

Variety: 100% Moscatel de Alejandría.
Alc. Vol.: 15º
Average age: 100 years.

Toneles is one of Valdespino’s most precious treasures. A wine with extremely limited annual bottling which are sold under a strict allocation system. This extraordinary wine drew the attention of the famous critic Robert Parker who gave it the top score of 100 points.

It is possibly the balance perfection between richness, acidity and complexity. With over 100 years old, it is named under the sole cask (Tonel) containing the exceptional Solera of this wine. Without a doubt, a collector’s item.

Añada 2000.

A magical gem
of a wine.

Variety: 100% Palomino Fino.
Alc. Vol.: 20º
Average age: 75-100 years.

After 17 years in a cask, in June 2017 500 half-bottles were bottled with this unique magical wine. In Valdespino Macharnudo Alto Vintage 2000 several elements merge: the fortuitous nature of the empirical vinification process, the ‘single-cask’ singularity, the capricious character of the vintage factor (2000), and the excellence of the Pago de Macharnudo Alto, the Grand Cru of Jerez – a vineyard which lies some 135 metres above sea level, at the highest point in the region on the purest limestone in the Marco de Jerez.

This clear wine of a medium mahogany colour presents elegant aromas of dried fruits, spices (vanilla), caramel toffee and tobacco. A unique wine to enjoy quietly, it is also ideal paired with mature strong-flavoured cheeses.

Valdespino is paying a special tribute to its origins in the Macharnudo vineyard by bottling this extra limited Single Cask Palo Cortado Vintage from 2000.

Valdespino Vintage 2000 is a unique wine. The firm has traditionally launched limited quantities of high quality wine and that tradition has been followed once more in producing this new wine. Being a Vintage implies that the butt must be sealed under the supervision of the Consejo Regulador (Sherry Regulatory Council). The wine had also become much more concentrated as a result of evaporation, causing considerable reduction in its liquid volume, and the alcohol content had increased remarkably. In June 2017 we decided to bottle 500 halves of our Macharnudo 2000 Vintage Palo Cortado Single Cask. All bottles in this super limited edition are hand numbered and presented in individual gift boxes.

Manzanilla

La Especial.

A particularly unique finesse.

Variety: 100% Palomino Fino.
Alc. Vol.: 16º
Average age: 7 years.

The 2015 Especial Añada comes from the harvest of the same year, in which Valdespino reserves 16 casks of manzanilla in its initial phase of biological aging, when the flower was at a peak of development, with wines exclusively from Pago de Miraflores. In 2021, 5 of the 16 butts that made up this vintage were selected and shared a finesse and structure capable of making them evolve positively in the bottle. Of these five casks, 2,800 bottles have been filled in May 2022. The Especial Añada 2015 is a manzanilla of great intensity and structure that is bottled “en rama”, directly from the cask with minimal filtration to preserve its organoleptic characteristics intact.

This Manzanilla wine came exclusively from the Pago de Miraflores, the “Grand Cru” of Sanlúcar de Barrameda. In this first vintage, 16 casks were sealed, thus complying with the requirements set down by the Sherry and Manzanilla de Sanlúcar Regulatory Council for the classification of vintage wines. The first tasting of the 2015 vintage Manzanilla took place in October 2021 at Valdespino. A committee composed of technicians and sales and marketing experts picked 5 casks out of the 16 which made up this vintage. The selection was based on the wine’s refined, intense and complex character. The casks had in common a great delicacy and the structure required to evolve positively in the bottle.

The selected casks (numbers 4, 7, 9, 12 and 15) were blended in a final batch of 2,800 bottles bottled in April 2022. This vintage Manzanilla is bottled “en rama”, that is, directly from the cask with minimal filtration so as to preserve its organoleptic features intact. Over a century later, Valdespino remains faithful to the philosophy of selecting Sherry wines of exceptional quality and great versatility in their food pairing potential.
